A traditional-style daiquiri with a floral twist.
Ingredients:
2 oz silver rum (such as Bacardi Superior)
1 oz lavender syrup
Juice of one lemon or lime (~1-2 oz)
Everything in place? Then it's time for instructions:
Fill a cocktail shaker, or something that can be used as one, with ice, then add all your ingredients into that. Shake vigorously, then strain into a martini glass (whatever you have on hand also works), garnish if desired, and serve.
Now for a big question: what if you can't find lavender syrup? If you can find the flowers, it can be made easily. Combine 2 cups of water and 1 cup of sugar in a saucepan, then tie up 1 ounce (about 30 grams) of dried lavender into a cheesecloth and set aside. If you're using fresh lavender, you will need to use more. Bring the water and sugar to a high boil, then add the lavender-filled cheesecloth in. Leave that on a low boil for ten minutes, then remove from heat and allow to cool COMPLETELY before storing in a glass container. And that's it! You can also add sparkling water to an ounce or two of the syrup to make a soda.
Caution: make sure you're using culinary lavender such as English Lavender and not Lavandin, or you will end up with a syrup that tastes more like liquid soap.
The original drink is from the Royal Caribbean cruise line, and the recipe here is from Cruise Tips TV. Thank you to u/femsci-nerd on Reddit for the lavender syrup instructions.
