Store-bought ranch is never as good as home-made.
Ingredients:
1 cup mayonnaise (lite and regular both work)
1/2 cup of sour cream
1/2 tablespoon dried dill weed
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
Splash of apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, or acid of choice
Got everything? Then it's time for the instructions:
This is a pretty simple recipe. Combine all your ingredients in a bowl or jar, and then mix until fully combined. Taste once you're done and then adjust the seasoning as desired. Once you're done, store in a jar in the fridge, or eat it all right away if you've got someone to share it with.
I tend to find that I want more dill weed in my end product, but that's not to everyone's taste. However, dill is not optional for a ranch dip - without it, it's just not ranch. Some people add garlic powder; I find it too overpowering for ranch, which I prefer to have a little bit of a brighter flavor. If you don't have sour cream on hand (I often don't) you can use normal dairy cream to thin out the end result and add in some of the freshness provided by the sour cream, although sour cream is preferable.
I didn't get this recipe from anywhere in particular - it's an amalgamation of observations, things I've scrolled past online, and ingredient lists on store-bought bottles.
